The American Red Cross is in your community 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Hiwassee Chapter responded to 70 local disasters last year, assisting 263 individuals with their immediate disaster-related needs for shelter, food, clothing, replacement of medical prescriptions and other household requirements. The Chapter committed more than $34,000 to helping people in our community begin their own recovery after a disaster. Red Cross disaster assistance is a gift, given through the generous donations of neighbors and the service of volunteers. For help, call (423) 472-1595, 24 hours a day.
